NordSee One Offshore Wind Farm

Van Oord was contracted to change out the bolts between the monopile (MP) and the transition pieces (TP) of the 54 foundations of the NordSee One Offshore Windfarm in the German Bight in 2016

Early spring 2017, the Acta Orion was deployed as the accommodation and W2W support vessel to house the technicians working on changing out of the bolts. The work was carried out in 24/7 manner with four Bolting Teams working on two adjacent turbine locations. The transfer of bolting teams from the vessel to the TP’s and vice versa was performed via the Ampelmann E1000 gangway.

The work required significant amount of cargo (new bolts, cleaning utilities, bolting tools, ultrasound measurement devices etc.) to be transferred from the vessel onto the TPs. The Ampelmann gangway in cargo transfer mode and the Lagendijk KBC played a key role in the cargo transfer process.
