Acta Marine successfully completes burial operations of BritNed Power Cable.

8 February 2010

The BritNed power cable is a new power connection between the Netherlands and the UK. Acta Marine supplied the dedicated vessels, crew/operator expertise and burial installation for burial of the Dutch shore end near Maasvlakte.

Shore end installation contractor Visser Smit Hanab chartered the Acta Marine spread for safe burial of the power cable. Using Acta Marine’s in house developed cable burial technique, a length of over 3,300 meter of power cable was lowered to the required burial depth of 3 meter.

Post-lay burial was completed with the trenching spread onboard the multi-purpose vessel Coastal Worker. Anchor handling, supply and standby works were completed with the shallow-water multi-purpose vessel Coastal Enterprise. Crew changes were completed with the fast crew tender Coastal Thunder.
