Acta Marine locates underwater cables
Acta Marine was contracted by a major energy network operator to locate and map 150 underwater cables that lay under several canals in the Province of Groningen.
The measurements were required in view of dredging work on these canals. This task was performed by Acta Marine’s shallow water workboat Buffel, which was equipped with a jet lance for this task. For this client it was the first time they made use of this particular method, including GPS. “We used to set off with a simple barge and tape measure, later we surveyed by means of electronic signals, but only this method with the jet lance pinpoints the location with 100% accuracy”, says a company engineer. Following on this successful project the same client commissioned Acta Marine to locate a number of underwater cables near Zwolle.
