Acta Marine orders a new ultra shallow draft workboat
Acta Marine is expanding her fleet with a new, ultra shallow draft workboat. This versatile vessel is particularly aimed for work on projects in the offshore energy market, like oil & gas, cables & pipelines and offshore wind farms.
The new ship will measure 35 by 12 meters and the deck superstructure is situated on one side of the vessel, thus creating a very large open work deck. She will be equipped with a 200 tons/meter crane and a 50 tons winch. Propulsion power is being provided by 3 engines of 600 hp each. Also the bow thruster will be driven by an identical engine. A unique feature for this type of vessel is the Dynamic Positioning installation, ensuring highly accurate manoeuvring and allowing the vessel to keep offshore position without the use of anchors. The operational draft will be only 1.4 m. This makes the vessel most suitable for jobs near-shore and for ultra shallow waters. Onboard accommodation is being provided for up to 12 persons in 7 cabins. The vessel is being built in the Netherlands by Bijlsma Shipyards and delivery is expected to take place in autumn 2009. This investment endorses Acta Marine’s ambition to further strengthen her leading position as owner and worldwide operator of workboats for coastal waters.
