Working together in the Republic of Congo

17 May 2018

For the past ten years, Acta Marine and Alma Shipping have successfully completed numerous maritime projects together on the West African coast. The two companies have recently scored two new contracts supporting customers in the Republic of Congo with their shallow draft projects.

The first contract calls on Coastal Saga – a Multipurpose Workboat & Survey Vessel jointly operated with Alma Shipping – to perform shallow water surveys and seabed mapping near the port of Pointe-Noire. “Capable of working in water as shallow as 1.25 metres, and offering accommodation for up to six clients, Coastal Saga is ideally suited for this project,” says Acta Marine’s Project Manager Ruben de Vries.

The second contract is a shallow water pipe laying project that demonstrates how vessels from both Acta Marine and Alma Shipping’s fleets team up to support one client. Acta Marine has mobilised one of its powerful 50 tonne bollard pull Shoalbusters, Coastal Vanguard, to execute anchor handling and logistical support duties for a pipe-lay barge. “This vessel excels in the challenging conditions of shallow waters, and has all the necessary on-board equipment. Therefore it is the perfect choice for this client’s requirements.” On this same project. Alma Shipping has deployed their 56.7-metre barge Alma Loader and their 17-metre support vessel Alma Tiger.

“It is good to be working once again with Alma Shipping,” notes Ruben de Vries. “The combination of our joint knowledge of the local market, backed up by strong operational and technical teams offer optimal support to our customers in West Africa.”
