Coastal Enterprise: the perfect vessel for ultra-shallow water work
In summer 2017 Acta Marine was awarded a pipeline towage and installation contract in Abu Dhabi.
A vessel was needed to tow and install 1.1 km-long pipes at a trenched location just under 30km offshore. However, the project was not a straightforward towing contract, as certain areas of the proposed route had a minimum depth of 1.5 metres.
“With a minimum draft of just 1.12 metres, Coastal Enterprise was the perfect vessel for this project,” notes Acta Marine’s Middle East General Manager Pieter Liezenga. “This 39-metre long Multicat has ultra-shallow draft capabilities that are unique in the Middle East. What’s more, this vessel is equipped with a DP-system, allowing for optimal manoeuvrability. The feedback that we are hearing from the vessel’s charterer is that they are very satisfied with Coastal Enterprise and her crew.”
If fact, Coastal Enterprise’s contract has been prolonged to April 2018, with the possibility of further extension. “The waters around the Persian Gulf are known for their shallow water areas, so we are looking forward to taking on more projects like this in the future.”
