Acta Marine’s Middle East office
October 1ste 2015 Acta Marine opened a Middle East office. The expected business opportunities in this area are reason to open a regional office. Acta Marine foresees opportunities in the Oil & Gas market and in the Dredging & Construction market, from historical perspective our main markets.
Pieter Liezenga is permanently based in Dubai, UAE to cover the region. His job mainly involves commercial activities. By opening an office in the Middle East, Acta Marine expects to have a better feasibility and feeling within the local market. As a first result Acta Marine has inkedthree new charter contract for our Shoalbuster ‘Coastal Victory’ in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Hopefully more similar contracts will follow soon.
During the first week of the office’s opening, Acta Marine Middle East FZE was exhibiting at the Seatrade Offshore Marine & Workboats 2015 exhibition. A perfect timed event to introduce the local office to the market. Some family members of Acta Marine’s shareholder were visiting the Middle East as well. Together with the sister company, Acta Marine Middle East joined the family during dinner. We were proud to inform them about this strategic move.
“Together with my wife Caroline and my son Tjebbe, six months old, we moved to Dubai on September 28th. The first few days were challenging, adapting to the new surroundings and camping in the apartment, full of boxes from the relocation company. After a few days it seemed we did find our normal rhythm again, i.e. Tjebbe is swimming in the pool all day, making new friends already. We are looking forward to the upcoming years living in Dubai. I expect a lot from our move, since we already received positive feedback from (potential) clients, appreciating our local presence. Hopefully this feedback results in interesting projects.“
