V-SAT installation on the Coastal Chariot
On September 3rd Acta Marine signed a contract with Alphatron Marine for the delivery of V-SAT satellite systems. These systems will be used on our larger vessels. With the installation of V-SAT Acta Marine is able to provide a higher standard of service towards the crew and it's clients.
Because of the V-SAT satellite system, communication costs will be managed more effectively. Network performance will be enhanced, as larger data and voice traffic will be processed on board during the various projects. The amount of data that needs to be sent and received from the vessels has grown rapidly over the past years. V-SAT therefore offers the solution to run the vessels more efficiently.
The Coastal Chariot is the first vessel that is equipped with this system. The DP1 Ultra Shallow Draft Multipurpose Support Vessel will soon depart for South America. Therefore, there was a limited time frame to install the system onboard. During the new build phase of the vessel the necessary preparations for such an installation were already made. As a result, we were capable of installing the system within the short mobilization period. Acta Marine and Alphatron will complete the installation on all the remaining vessels during 2016.
