New built Coastal Chariot immediately to work after name-giving ceremony
Maritiem Cluster Friesland delivered yet another DP1 multi purpose support vessel to Acta Marine. Lady sponsor Mrs. E. (Litsa) Kwantes, named the ‘’Coastal Chariot’’ in Rotterdam on February 20th. The new multi-purpose vessel is a sister unit of Coastal Challenger that has been delivered to Acta Marine in 2012. Coastal Chariot will be deployed upon dredging projects, in the oil & gas industry and at offshore windpark construction works.
Immediately after the naming ceremony the vessel set sail towards France for her first assignment; geotechnical sea-bottom survey near St. Nazaire.
Coastal Chariot is the fourth unit within Acta Marine’s fleet of 40 workboats that is equipped with Dynamic Positioning. The company was the first owner/operator to apply this technology upon such smaller type workboats. Also unique for a vessel of this power, is the operating draft of only 1.8 meters combined with a bollard pull of 37 tons. This makes this vessel particularly suitable for operating in ultra-shallow waters and very close to coastlines. Furthermore, Acta Marine’s DP multi purpose vessels have a track record of being amongst the most fuel efficient workboats in the market.
